Editorial Policy

We publish guides and analysis about domains, DNS, WHOIS privacy and brand protection. Because we also sell those services, you are right to ask how independent the writing is. This page explains how our articles are produced, reviewed and corrected — and where our commercial interest sits.

Who writes and reviews our content

Articles are produced by the Privy Domains team — people who work with domain registration, DNS and brand protection day to day. Every article is reviewed by a second person for technical accuracy before it is published, and against the standards below.

How we research

We aim to base factual claims on primary sources: ICANN policy and consensus documents, registry operator documentation, RFCs and other technical standards, and official guidance from data- protection authorities. Where a topic is contested or evolving, we say so rather than presenting one view as settled. Prices, TLD availability and registry rules change; where an article states a figure, treat it as correct at the time of writing, and check the live pricing page or the relevant registry for the current position.

Accuracy and corrections

We would rather be slow than wrong. If we publish something inaccurate, we fix it. Material corrections — anything that changes the meaning or the advice — are made promptly, and we will note on the article that it has been corrected rather than quietly editing it. Minor fixes (typos, broken links) are made without a note.

If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the article URL and what you believe is wrong. That is genuinely useful and we act on it.

Use of AI

We may use AI tools to assist with drafting, outlining or editing. AI is never the last word: a person on our team is responsible for every published article, checks its facts, and stands behind it. We do not publish machine-generated text that no one has verified.

Commercial interest and independence

Privy Domains is a commercial domain registration service. Our articles often relate to services we sell, and many link to our own service pages — that is a clear commercial interest and we are not pretending otherwise. What we commit to is this: the technical claims in an article are meant to be correct whether or not they favour us, and we try to describe trade-offs honestly, including cases where another approach or provider may suit you better. If an article discusses a specific third-party product, any commercial relationship that affects what we say will be disclosed on that article.

What we will not do

  • Present sponsored or paid content as independent editorial. Anything paid for is labelled.
  • Invent statistics, testimonials, case studies or credentials. If we cannot substantiate a figure, we do not publish it as fact.
  • Claim endorsements, certifications or partnerships we cannot evidence.
  • Scare readers into a purchase with risks we have overstated.
